Transurban's Brisbane revenue surges at double the rate of traffic growth, a trend that has made Queensland one of the company's strongest-performing markets. The Legacy Way tunnel, opened in 2015, has been a key factor in this success, despite initial forecasts falling short of expectations. Transurban's other south-east Queensland roads, including the Clem7 and Airport Link tunnels, along with the Gateway Motorway, the Go Between Bridge, and the Logan Motorway, have also played a crucial role in this positive outcome. Operating earnings from the Brisbane business increased by 8.8%, outpacing growth in Sydney and Melbourne, and traffic volumes in Brisbane increased across both weekdays and weekends. Growth was particularly strong among heavy vehicles, with large vehicle traffic increasing by 4.9% during the year, compared with 1.8% growth in car traffic. Transurban's group-wide average daily traffic increased by 2.2% to 2.6 million trips a day, while toll revenue rose by 6.7% to almost $4 billion. The company posted an after-tax profit of $432 million, up from $178 million in 2024-25. Chief executive Michelle Jablko attributed the business results to traffic growth recorded in every region, despite economic and geopolitical uncertainty. Transurban expects to pay investors a distribution of 72¢ per share in the 2026-27 financial year, up from 69¢ the previous year. The company's strong performance in Brisbane is a testament to its strategic investments and effective management of traffic growth, even in the face of external challenges.
